Drew works with Professors Kiran Trehan and Monder Ram at the University of Birmingham on Mapping and Activating Support for Diverse Business Networks through the Enterprise & Diversity Alliance (EDA). The purpose of this work is to utilise the Enterprise Diversity Alliance (EDA) to engage directly with diverse businesses in order to promote better relationships with the finance sector and support availability to these firms.

Biography

Drew works with Professors Kiran Trehan and Monder Ram at the University of Birmingham  on Mapping and Activating Support for Diverse Business Networks through the Enterprise & Diversity Alliance (EDA). The purpose of this work is to utilise the EDA to engage directly with diverse businesses in order promote better relationships with the finance sector and support availability to such firms. The EDA is a unique grouping of public and private sector organisations dedicated to promoting diversity and enterprise in the UK. Its’ purpose is to apply the insights from a substantial body of social science research to the domains of policy and practice. Established since 2010, the group includes senior staff from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Barclays, British Bankers’ Association (BBA), Business in The Community, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and Lloyds Banking Group.

 

Drew joined Birmingham Business School in March 2014 following the completion of her PhD at Newcastle University Business School. Her PhD research focused on incubation and new venture creation utilising a multi-level approach embracing the entrepreneur, the firm and its operating environment. Prior to her PhD, she completed her MBA with distinction also at Newcastle University. Her research interests lie in the broad area of small business and entrepreneurship and have included research into incubation and new venture creation, business support and business start-up.
