The launch of the new report Healthy Workplace Ireland: A Survey of Mental Health & Well-Being Promotion took place at an event at University College Cork on 29th March. The report is authored by Dr Jane Bourke, and Niamh Lenihan of University College Cork and ERC Director Professor Stephen Roper. It highlights the challenges employers in Ireland face in relation to employee mental ill health and the organisational responses to such challenges. For the first time it provides large-scale evidence of health and well-being promotion in Irish workplaces, as well as data on absenteeism for physical and mental ill-health reasons, presenteeism and their impact on business performance. 1,500 employers in the private sector in Ireland with 10 or more employees took part in the survey between September and December 2022.

The research is a part of a broader international study on mental health and productivity being led by the ERC and funded by the ESRC.
