Biography
Dr Carl-Magnus Bjuggren is employed as a Research Fellow at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN) in Sweden. He received his PhD in economics in 2013 from Linköping University. His dissertation is a study of firm dynamics, family ownership, and employment protection. It addresses the implications of employment protection on firm productivity and how family owned firms react differently with regards to economic shocks and employee compensation.
His research interests include applied microeconomics, firm dynamics, family firms and labour economics.

It has recently been recognised that conclusions about firm size were confounded by the effect of the age of the firm. This paper explores the role of size, controlling for age, by comparing the cohorts of firms born in 1998 over their first decade of life.
