Hamisu Salihu

Hamisu Salihu joined the ERC in September 2023 after completing a PhD at SOAS, University of London where he researched the political economy of industrial policy, exploring the factors accounting for divergences in the performances of industrial policies among firms in Nigeria. Before that, Hamisu was the 2014 NLNG/British Council Scholar at the University of Surrey, where he studied for an MSc in Economics. He also served as Teaching Assistant/Associate at the University of Nottingham, SOAS, University of London, and University College London (UCL). Hamisu has a passion for doing evidence-based research that can lead to actionable policy recommendations and implementation for overall social benefits. His research interests are in the political economy of firms’ learning/industrial policy, structural change, economics of rent-seeking, and institutional economics. Hamisu enjoys travelling, exploring new places, and meeting new people and challenges.
