Biography

Lucy is chief executive of The Alchemists. This business works with high growth  mid-corporate businesses to accelerate their growth and success by focussing  on shareholder and management development and succession. She is chair of the Steering group of the Enterprise Research Centre. This was set up in February 2013 to answer: “What drives SME growth?” The lead organisations are Warwick & Aston Business Schools.

Lucy is the first chair of the independent Professional Standards Council, which oversees the Asset Based Finance Association. Lucy is non-executive chairman of an angel investment network. She is also a non-executive director of a range of small and medium sized businesses. In March 2014 she became David Goldman Visiting Professor of Innovation and Enterprise at Newcastle University Business School, giving her inaugural lecture on March 19th.

From Jan 2012 to Nov 2013, she was chair of Capital for Enterprise, where she was responsible for over £4bn of government backed debt and equity support to private and family UK businesses.

She was chair of the CBI’s national Small Business Forum from 2010 to 2013.
