Richard Blundel

Professor of Enterprise and Organisation

Richard Blundel is Professor of Enterprise and Organisation in the Department for Public Leadership and Social Enterprise at The Open University. His research focuses on environmental sustainability in SMEs and in related work on eco-innovation. Richard was co-lead for a recent ESRC Impact Acceleration project with Sam Hampton and other colleagues from University of Oxford and Climate Outreach, which developed an online course and toolkit, ‘Promoting Sustainability in Business’. He has also studied growth and innovation processes in craft-based firms, including boat builders, furniture designer-makers and musical instrument manufacturers. His work is published in journals such as Business & Society, Business Strategy and the Environment, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Enterprise & Society and The Journal of Small Business Management. He is co-author of Exploring Entrepreneurship (3e) (SAGE, 2021).
