Biography

George is currently a Research Fellow with the Enterprise Research Centre at Aston Business School. He has a background in Economics and is nearing the completion of his PhD from Maastricht University. His research interests include the economics of knowledge and innovation, capability accumulation, and firm performance, with a special focus on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). His doctoral thesis, titled “Microeconomics of capability accumulation: essays on product diversification, innovation and firm dynamics in India,” employs advanced causal inference methodologies and machine learning techniques to delve into the innovation-growth dynamics at the micro level.

Before joining at the Enterprise Research Centre, George participated in various projects including the Comprehensive Innovation for Sustainable Development (CI4SD) of the United Nations, focusing on firms’ green and digital capabilities and resilience towards shocks, and the Kerala and World Economy project at the Centre for Development Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, which concentrated on the impact of technology adoption on the export behaviour of firms.
